It seems to me that this question is another form of asking what my New Year’s resolution is going to be. Because of that, it’s hard for me to come up with an appropriate answer since I’ve never really been interested in or supported the idea of having one. I think New Year’s resolutions are pretty ridiculous actually. I mean c’mon, do they ever really work? So many times I’ve heard something like, “I’m going to lose X pounds this year.” Not to sound too pessimistic but it can be pretty difficult to obtain this goal when it lasts more as a one-month workout routine rather than a whole year ordeal. I’m sure resolutions are great for various people, especially those who honestly seek to achieve them, I’d just rather not have one. If I want to do something, I go out and do it. I don’t really need the beginning of a New Year as a pretext.
Okay, enough of me ranting. To humor the question, I will still answer it :)
There are a lot of things that I’ve been putting off. One of the main ones is finding a job. I guess it hasn’t been a big priority because I’ve always been more concerned with finishing school and getting good grades. Shoot, if I had to work and go to school at the same time, I’d be a lot more stressed out and I’m sure my grades would suffer a bit. Either that or I’d be virtually surviving off of coffee daily due to a lack of sleep. After I graduate next summer, I will definitely submerge myself into the typical post-college job hunt.
However, I think a bigger priority for me would be to travel to see all the people that I have met in the past year or two. While studying abroad in Guanajuato, Mexico, I met a handful of great people who I now consider some of my best friends. I miss them a lot and think of them often. It’s hard to spend so much time with a certain group of friends in another country and then be separated after the semester ends. We are all still in contact through Facebook, but I would really like to take the time to go visit them. The only unfortunate thing is that they live all across the country – California, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, and Rhode Island. I can only hope that I’ll find the time and money to make these visits after I graduate this summer. I’d also like to visit my grandma out in Arizona and my host family in Mexico again too. So if anyone has any ideas as to how to purchase all these plane tickets, feel free to let me know! Or maybe I should just become a stewardess! (;
So for those of you who set out to accomplish a New Year’s resolution, good luck! Thanks for reading & be sure to come visit my blog to check out Amy’s post as well as some more of mine!
